Over one hundred years ago, William Plutarch Vandevert chose the most beautiful land in Central Oregon, on the Little Deschutes River, to build a log homestead and start a ranch. The meadows and pine forests had magnificent views of snowcapped Mt. Bachelor & Paulina Peak.

The beautiful view, the trees, the meadows, the river, and the restored log homestead are all still here, part of the finest gated community in the region. The over 320 acres in common areas include two miles of river, modern horse facilities, a four acre lake stocked with trout, and eight miles of hiking, riding, and cross country skiing trails.

Vandevert Ranch lies between 4,160 feet of elevation near the downstream end of the Little Deschutes River and 4,180 feet at the main entrance gate.

Vandevert owners can fish, ride horses, canoe on the Little Deschutes River, and play golf at Crosswater or Sunrivers two other golf courses all in one day within a mile of their front door. Vandevert is a paradise full of recreation for adults and children.

The ranch includes eight miles of well maintained trails, exclusively for the use of owners. Many more miles of trails are a short distance away in the Cascade Mountains.

Owners keep their horses in three large corrals. During the winter, up to eight horses can be stabled in the barn. All horse facilities, including a large pasture, are well away from home sites.

The barn is a complete equestrian facility with eight boarding stalls, a grooming stall, and a tack room on the first floor.

The second floor of the barn features a large clubhouse with a terrific view of the large pasture all the way to Mt. Bachelor and the "wild" area above the bridge toward Paulina Peak.

The loft holds a pool table, the Vandevert Lending Library, and games for children

The teepee campsite is a day use or overnight campsite for families and children. The large authentic teepee has a wood floor, furniture, and an outdoor picnic table. Arrangements for overnight camping must be made in advance with the ranch manager.
